In 2001, SWOOP was honored by the North
Carolina Interagency Council for Coordinating Homeless
Programs. This
agency gave SWOOP its Award for Outstanding Community Impact,
in recognition of SWOOP’s “exemplary service
and commitment to homeless people in North Carolina.”
In January 2005 and again in December 2005, SWOOP was awarded first $1,250 and then $2,000 from Research Triangle Institute International. These awards, which were given through RTI's 2005 charitable contributions program, is for organizations who provide services to people in need or for other causes consistent with RTI’s mission to improve the human condition.
In February 2005, the Human
Rights Campaign's (HRC)
Carolinas awarded SWOOP its 2005 Community Service Award. This
Award cited SWOOP for “being a welcoming and affirming
service organization that demonstrates the power and commitment
of the GLBT community to make a difference in the lives of
those in need.” |
